Great reflections by you and the readership. A lot of the situations given above, and in your previous post, strike me as a kind of unintended gas lighting. I think there should be another word/phrase for it. Perhaps something like: the tyranny of over-generalizing the specific?

Question: Is the "Light of Beacon" and some kind of video part of your article? I haven't clicked on the video because it looks like an ad to me. If it is an ad, is this substack's choice? Your choice?

Just a Lord of the Rings reference! There's no video, just the animated image embedded of Theoden responding to Gondor's call when the beacons are lit to call for air.

Oh, thanks! Read The Hobbit at least two times long ago, but I'm pretty sure I never read the whole Lord of the Rings, and I know I didn't see a film version.
