What Belongs on this Bingo Board?
If you ask for/give help in August, you can get an early copy of my book
I’m delighted to see the special bookmarks going out to people who have preordered The Dignity of Dependence! (If you’ve preordered, you can claim your reward here).
The book comes out on October 1st, but I have at least one copy I can send out early to an Other Feminisms reader. I could do a simple raffle, but I thought it might be fun to do… a bingo board challenge.
The basic idea is that I (with your help) would come up with a range of ways you might ask for / receive help from someone in your community in August, and then I’d send a book or two to people who bingo’d.
I’d like to do a range of things that are easy to achieve and things that might mean a little bit of a stretch beyond your usual.
If I did this, would you like to play?
And, most importantly…
What kinds of help (asked for or offered) should be bingo squares?
Central square: Ask for help (of any kind)
Bring someone food
Invite someone to your messy house
Spend time with someone much older
Spend time with someone much younger
Answer “How are you?” fully
Pick up a prescription for someone
Ask someone to run an errand for you
Watch someone’s kids
Ask for someone to come over during a chore
What would you add?
Matchmake!
(Inspired by Leah Facebook posts circa a decade ago.)
feed someone's pet while they travel, or ask for pet care from someone. (I already preordered the book, but this came to mind!)
